Quick estimate
Pick your situation → see the likely cost & time
These are guide ranges, not quotes. Where a job lands in the range depends on the lock model, whether it has been forced before, and the time of the call-out — so we send you one fixed number by message before dispatch, and that is the number you pay.
↑ A range, not a price. What decides the upper end: the lock model and its age, whether the door has been forced before, whether the unit has to be replaced rather than opened, and what time it is. Send a photo of the lock and we convert this range into one fixed figure before anyone leaves — and if the lock turns out to be something other than the photo showed, you hear the new number before anything is touched.
Send us a photo of the problem.
* A 3 a.m. lockout costs more than a Tuesday afternoon one — the out-of-hours surcharge is inside the fixed quote you get before we dispatch, never added later · Non-destructive methods first, always
Common situations
Korean door locks, decoded
Nearly every door in Seoul uses a digital keypad lock (Samsung, Yale, Gateman, Hugel…). They're great — until they aren't. Here's what usually goes wrong and what we do about it.
| Your situation | What's going on | What we do | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keypad won't light up at all | Internal batteries dead (they rarely warn you in English) | 9V external-contact wake-up, or open + battery replacement | 10–20 min |
| Code entered correctly but door won't open | Worn motor / clutch inside the lock body | Open non-destructively, repair or replace the mechanism | 20–40 min |
| You never got the code (new move-in / sublet) | Previous tenant's code still set | Verify tenancy, factory-reset, set a new code with you | ~20 min |
| Lock beeps and flashes randomly | Low battery warning or tamper alarm mode | Battery swap, alarm reset, quick English tutorial on the settings | ~15 min |
| Broken key stuck in an old-style lock | Metal key sheared inside the cylinder | Extract the fragment, or upgrade you to a keypad lock | 20–40 min |
💡 Free tip before you pay anyone: the 9V battery trick
If your keypad is completely dead, look for two small metal contacts on the outside of the lock (usually at the bottom edge). Touch a fresh 9V square battery to them — the keypad will power up for a few seconds, long enough to enter your code. Convenience stores sell 9V batteries. If that doesn't work, message us.
From "I'm locked out" to back inside — the exact process
We verify identity before opening any door, and confirm the price before dispatch. Both protect you.

1
Message us — address + photo of the lock
WhatsApp or KakaoTalk, in English. The lock photo tells us the brand and method, so we quote you a fixed price right in the chat.
-
2
Quick identity check
Photo ID plus anything tying you to the address — lease, mail, delivery history, or your landlord/host confirming. For Airbnbs we contact your host in Korean and get authorization for you.
-
3
Dispatch — as fast as possible once confirmed
Nights, weekends and holidays carry a call-out surcharge, and you get that number in the chat before anyone sets off — standing in a hallway is not the moment to be surprised by a price. Once you accept it we send the nearest available locksmith and text a live ETA.
-
4
Non-destructive opening first
We always try methods that don't damage the lock or door. If the lock must be drilled (rare), we tell you first and quote the replacement before proceeding.
-
5
Reset · receipt · quick tutorial
New code set with you, batteries checked, and a 2-minute English walkthrough of your lock's features. Official receipt for your host, landlord or insurance.
Pricing & guarantees
Price depends on lock type and what's needed. We give you a price in the chat before dispatch, confirm it on site once the lock is seen, and only work at the price you approved. Nights, weekends and holidays carry a call-out surcharge — it is inside the quote you accept before dispatch, not a line that appears afterwards.
The final price is confirmed on site, before any work starts.
The figures below are guide ranges based on what you describe and send us. A photo of a keypad can't always show the model behind it, a mortise that has been forced before, or a door that has dropped on its hinges — so we turn the range into a fixed quote from your photo, and the locksmith confirms it at the door before touching anything.
If it comes to more than the estimate, you're told before anything is touched — and you can say no and pay nothing. Work only ever proceeds at a price you've approved.
| Type of work | Estimated cost (guide range) |
|---|---|
| Lockout opening — keypad lock (10–20 min) | ₩50,000–100,000 |
| Keypad lock repair (motor, keypad module) | ₩50,000–120,000 |
| Digital lock replacement (unit included) | ₩120,000–250,000 |
| Code reset + battery service after move-in | ₩30,000–60,000 |
| Smart lock upgrade (app / fingerprint models) | On-site quote |
Fixed quote in the chat — one number, before we even leave, surcharge included. · Non-destructive first — drilling only with your OK, replacement quoted upfront. · 1-year warranty on installed locks, provided by the pro who fits them. · Payment — the locksmith's charge is settled with them (usually cash or bank transfer, sometimes card). Our own fee is paid by PayPal — card or PayPal balance, no Korean bank account needed.
Frequently asked questions
I'm locked out right now. What do you need from me?
Your address and a photo of the door lock. For your security we verify you actually live there before opening — photo ID plus anything tying you to the address (lease contract, mail, delivery app history, or your landlord/host confirming by phone). We handle the verification in English and dispatch immediately.
My keypad is dead / beeping. Am I actually locked out?
Maybe not! Most Korean keypad locks have external 9V battery contacts under the keypad — touch a fresh 9V battery to them and the keypad wakes up long enough to enter your code (see the tip box above). If that fails or you don't know the code, message us.
I just moved in. Should I change the door code?
Yes, always — previous tenants, agents and cleaners may all know the old one. We can reset the code with you in 20 minutes, or replace the lock if it's old. For rentals it's worth clearing a full replacement with your landlord first; we can make that call in Korean for you.
Can you help with an Airbnb lockout?
Yes — one of our most common traveler calls. We contact your host in Korean, confirm the situation, get authorization, then either retrieve the correct code or open the door. Keep your booking confirmation handy as proof of stay.
Will you damage my door?
We always start with non-destructive methods, and most keypad lockouts open without any damage. In the rare case drilling is unavoidable, we stop, explain why, and quote the replacement lock before proceeding — nothing happens without your OK.
How do I pay? I don't have a Korean card.
Our own fee is paid by PayPal — card or PayPal balance, no Korean bank account needed. The locksmith's charge is settled with them directly: most take cash or bank transfer, and some take cards. Tell us what suits you and we'll confirm it with them before booking, receipts included.
